Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky

In a series of tweets, the president hypocritically accused Sweden of letting "our African American Community down in the United States," and expressed disappointment with the Swedish PM, Stefan Löfven, for failing to act on ASAP Rocky's behalf. "Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky," he wrote.

Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! #FreeRocky

In response to the rapper's detainment, a host of celebrities, including Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, pushed the president to use diplomatic channels to help ASAP's case. While many believe Rocky's arrest is unjust, particularly since he maintains that he acted in self-defense, the president's involvement has spotlighted his ignorance yet again.

Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!

Imagine 5 years ago someone telling you that President Donald Trump spoke to Kanye West on the telephone so they could devise a plan to free ASAP Rocky from a Swedish prison.

“I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you he has tremendous support from the African-American community,” Trump said during a press conference from the Oval Office. “When I say African American, I think I can really say from everybody in this country, because we’re all one.”
As Trevor Noah aptly pointed out: “That’s right folks. We’re all one and anyone who doesn’t agree with that can go back to their shithole countries.”
On Thursday, ASAP was charged with assault in Sweden and will remain in detention until a trial, which is expected to begin as early as Tuesday.
